Jennifer Mason was born and educated in Birmingham. She trained as a teacher through Birmingham University and later studied singing performance at Birmingham Conservatoire. Her PGCE course specialised in primary/ secondary school music and RE.
After working in schools in the Midlands she was appointed by the Music and Performing Arts Service in Staffordshire, where currently she is deputy of the service and Music Hub Manager. Responsibilities include day to day management of a large team of staff, strategic development of instrumental and choral work in schools and ensembles county wide, CPD for teachers and liaison with a wide range of Music Hub partners who work with young people across all genres promoting the power of music for whole school improvement and cultural, spiritual and social development.
She works with the MusicShare Partnership Project (run by Lichfield Cathedral School and the Cathedral) supporting singing days for schools in the Cathedral and across the diocese.
She is a founder member of the City of Birmingham Symphony Chorus, and is currently a member of the Lichfield Cathedral Chamber Choir. Being involved in music, singing in particular, has enabled her to travel and perform to audiences worldwide.
She is married and has a 14 year old grandson.
