Peter has 3 children who each attended the School between 1981 and 1993. He has previously been a Governor of another independent school and of state schools.

He is a Chartered Accountant, a former Chairman of a publicly quoted company and was in full time ministry in the Anglican Church for 17 years. Most recently he was Group Chief Executive of St Giles Hospice (Lichfield, Sutton Coldfield and Walsall) for 15 years and for 2 of those years also Chief Executive of Mary Stevens Hospice (Stourbridge). He was the first Chairman of the UK Hospice Advisory Council and Deputy Chairman of the national charity, Hospice UK.

He is currently a Residentiary Canon of Lichfield Cathedral (Canon Custos), an honorary Chaplain to the Queen, a Trustee of ehospice and of Bury Hospice, and Deputy Chair of the Stratford upon Avon Music Festival.
