Years 8 & 9
Years 8 and 9 are important and exciting years for teaching and learning. We continue to offer a purposefully broad curriculum allowing pupils to find the subjects which really interest them. Teaching practices are innovative and progressive allowing for student-led initiative and flexibility. With small class sizes, teachers can really offer bespoke teaching always considering the unique group of students in front of them.
GCSE Option Choices
During Year 9 there is a carefully structured programme of meetings for parents, and individual tutorials for pupils, which are designed to introduce the GCSE curriculum and assist with option choices. Generally, students will take 5 core GCSEs – Mathematics, English Language, English Literature and dual Science - plus four optional subjects. The GCSE Option Blocks are constructed based upon pupil choices, with the aim to ensure as many students as possible can study their first choice subjects.
