Wellbeing

We take our pupils’ health extremely seriously, as good mental health and wellbeing form the basis of a happy and successful life at school and beyond. We see our academic and pastoral work as interrelated and complementary.

We have a Wellbeing Coordinator who works closely with pastoral leaders and all other staff across the School. Pupils and students have access to qualified nursing staff and matrons and Wellbeing/RSE lessons cover a wide range of topics at a depth appropriate to each child’s age, including emotional health, spiritual health, physical health, healthy living and preparation for the future. Examples of topics covered include: friendships, bullying, mindfulness, resilience, financial literacy, campaigning, online safety, dealing with stress, sexual health, and relationships and belonging.

As our children’s welfare is of paramount importance to us, and we are a child-centred school, our pupils are reassured that they have a voice, will be listened to and what they say will be taken seriously. They know that they will be supported and kept safe. They will never be given the impression that they are creating a problem by seeking help.

We provide access to a range of resources that promote wellbeing, such as:

Healthy eating

Our school catering services are provided by Accent. At the heart of everything they do is a love of good, fresh and healthy food, prepared by teams who care. More than 98.3% of the food is prepared from fresh, all meat is Red Tractor assured, fish comes from sustainable stocks only, and the fruit and veg are UK sourced where possible.

The three-week lunch menu offers a wide range of main meals, including vegetarian, freshly prepared salads, soup, sandwiches and desserts, and a plentiful supply for fresh fruit. The catering team love to embrace themed days (such as Street Food, Chinese New Year and Red Nose Day), and in the summer when the weather permits, we love to have a surprise barbeque or picnic outdoors.

Whilst we have a nut free policy, all our food is prepared in an environment where food allergens and nut traces may be present. All food allergens are identified on menus or packaging and any special dietary requirements on a daily basis can be accommodated – parents are welcome to meet with our Catering Manager to discuss specific needs.
