A Head's Advent Countdown
This is always a busy term in School and it is easy to forget how many reasons we have to be glad about all that School life has to offer. So, I have decided to create an ‘Advent Countdown of Gratitude’. Here goes:
1. We have Choristers and Choral Scholars and have just enjoyed the awe and wonder of the beautiful Advent services in the Cathedral.
2. We are a warm and welcoming environment.
3. We get to spend time in a beautiful medieval cathedral and Close, and the Longdon countryside.
4. We have amazing experts and enthusiasts all around us.
5. We have a fabulous Friends’ Group who arranged a fantastic Christmas Fayre.
6. We have a delicious lunch every day.
7. We are warm.
8. We are blessed with good friends.
9. We are blessed with good colleagues.
10. We have more than we really need and can give to the Foodbank and to our community in other ways, like the current toy appeal.
11. We have pupils who are doing amazing volunteer work in the community.
12. We have a culturally rich environment – art, music, drama, history.
13. We have children who are good role models for younger ones (did you see that happening at Winter Wonderland?)
14. We have a beautiful School Chapel.
15. We have beautiful countryside views at Longdon
16. We have playing fields and playgrounds and feisty sports teams!
17. We have enough books and stationery for all our work (think of those schools where even having enough pens and pencils is a challenge).
18. We have libraries and a librarian who encourages us to read.
19. Pupils on the Lichfield site start every week in a stunning cathedral building.
20. We have lots and lots of clubs and activities alongside lessons.
21. We have forest school lessons.
22. We have all the glory and splendour of Christmas to look forward to. (See you at the Carol Services next week).
23. We have solid foundations of faith, learning, leadership and service.
24. We can live by our motto … Inservi Deo et laetare!
