Cannock & District Athletics

On Thursday 6th June, we took part in our final Cannock and District Athletics Competition for this year. The Year 7s and 8s travelled to Wolverhampton to compete against other schools in the district, having already had practice events previously. Once again, there were some fantastic individual results:

Alex – 2nd 800m (Y7)
Thomas – 2nd 1500m (Y7)
Charles – 3rd Discus (Y7)
Rosie – 3rd 800m (Y7)
Freya – 3rd 1500m (Y7)
Cerys – 3rd Javelin (Y7)
Louis – 2nd 300m and 2nd Triple Jump (Y8)
Ben – 3rd 800m (Y8)
Benedict – 3rd Discus (Y8)
Layla – 2nd Hurdles and 2nd 100m (Y8)
Izzy – 1st 100m (Y8)
Amellie – 2nd Long Jump (Y8)

This competition finished off a fantastic series of events and it was brilliant to see how high each year group finished against some much larger state schools.  The Year 7 team finished in first place, beating the likes of King Edwards into second and the Friary into third.  The Year 8 team finished in a very creditable third place, this time behind King Edwards and the Friary.  Finally, Lichfield Cathedral School overall finished in third place, beating Chase Terrace and Cheslyn Hay to a top three finish.
