GCSE results a triumph!
Lichfield Cathedral School is thrilled to share the exceptional results of its students in the 2024 GCSE exams, highlighting the School’s dedication to academic excellence. Across all subjects, 45% of grades were 9-7, with 25% of grades 9-8.
Headteacher Sue Hannam expressed her pride in the students’ success: “These fantastic results not only reflect the hard work and resilience of our students, but also mark an important milestone as they move on to our Sixth Form. I speak for everyone, teachers, support staff and governors, when I say that we are excited to continue supporting their academic journey and personal development. We have worked tirelessly to ensure that each student is well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in Sixth Form and beyond.”

Key highlights:
- 25% of all grades were 9 or 8 (equivalent to A** or A*).
- 45% of all grades were 9-7 (equivalent to A**-A).
- 92% of all grades were 9-4 (equivalent to A-C).
- 100% pass rate maintained.
- Grade 9s were achieved in a wide range of subjects, including Art, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Drama, Design & Technology, English Language, English Literature, French, Geography, German, History, Latin, Maths, Further Maths, Music, Physics, Religious Studies, Dual Science and Spanish.
- 88% of students in Music Technology achieved either Distinction* or Distinction.
- Several students achieved all 9-7 grades, equivalent to A**-A) including: Zephan Rowe (eight 9s and two 8s); Jessica Wharton (seven 9s, two 8s, one 7); and Karla Usman and Libby Morton (both four 9s, four 8s, one 7).
- Harry Willshire in Year 9 who sat the GCSE exams in French two years early, achieved a fabulous grade 9.
