Hockey round-up
LCS hockey players have been out in force over the last few weeks, from our youngest players at Longdon to our oldest in the sixth form at Lichfield.
Two squads from Y3 and 4 travelled to Denstone to take on their young teams. For some this was their first-ever match and some have been playing just a matter of weeks. Denstone emerged the winners but the matches were closely contested with some great play from all the teams.
Two matches against King Edward's School saw varied fortunes in the last week of the half term. The mixed LCS team took on their counterparts and were victorious by 4 goals to 1. LCS performed well as a team and scored some great goals, including a first-minute effort by Seth C who found the top of the net with a lifted shot. Other strikes came from Jess W, George S and Joban A.
Later in the week, King Edward's got their revenge with a 2-1 win over our U15s. LCS absorbed a lot of first half pressure before conceding two goals. Just before half-time Lexi K reduced the deficit, and much better defence from LCS in the 2nd half kept their opponents at bay. Lily B in goal saved a penalty to ensure the score remained at 2-1.
On the last day of the half term, the LCS 7-a-side team returned with a trophy from the ISA tournament in Warwick. The girls started slowly in the group round, but progressed to the Plate section of the competition where they finally found their scoring touch, winning through to the final where they defeated Bedstone 3-0 to lift the trophy.
