ISA Midlands Cross-Country Championship
In late January, LCS took a small team of athletes to Bedstone College for the ISA Midlands Cross-Country Championships. This was the first time the school had entered the event and, after success in the ISA Midlands competitions, we were hoping for more of the same.
The team consisted of twelve pupils who had to navigate the tricky course set out for them. As Bedstone College is set on the outskirts of the Shropshire Hills, it meant the pupils had to tackle multiple terrains and a lot of tricky up and down sections. The best part for most of the pupils was the three streams that they had to cross during the run, making it a proper cross-country course.
Stand out performances came from Billy who finished in a fantastic 15th position in the Year 5 and 6 boys' race. Emilia finished in the top 10 (8th) with a very determined run in the Year 5 and 6 girls' race. But the top finisher was Freya, who finished in a fabulous 5th place in the Year 8 and 9 girls' race. This was even more impressive considering she was running against pupils who were a year older than her. As Freya and Emilia both finished in the top 10, they have qualified for the ISA National Cross-Country Championships which will take place in early March. We wish them the best of luck and look forward to hearing how they get on. Well done to all the athletes who took part.
