Medal of Honour for Jayce
Published author Jayce (Year 2) was recently recognised for his efforts to improve child literacy by being named as this year's youngest recipient of the British Citizen Youth Award, Medal of Honour. Jayce was invited to receive the award at the House of Lords by Baroness Caroline Cox of Queensbury, and it was presented to him by Dame Mary Perkins, founder of Specsavers.
Jayce had previously been given an Inspire Award from the British Youth International College. Jayce, who recently published his third book, was selected as Promising Laureate of the Year in the All Rounder category due to his hard work and dedication to making a difference in his community by actively fostering a culture of reading and writing in children. The awards were presented at the House of Commons in London.
Jayce shares his love of reading and writing by delivering story time sessions and creative writing workshops in the West Midlands. He also raises funds through the sale of his educational resources to donate 'back to school' kits to children overseas.
This October, as part of Black History Month celebrations, Jayce was invited to Mere Green Primary School to deliver two story time sessions to the whole school.
