LCS hockey players have been in plenty of action over the last couple of weeks - although some freezing conditions put paid to several fixtures.
The U15s enjoyed a good win in a 7-a-side game against Twycross. The girls are more used to playing 11-a-side and took time to adapt, but eventually won through 3-1with a great team performance.
The U14s (pictured below), having performed really well to qualify for the Midlands finals, came up against some tough opposition from some very big schools. They lost their first game 4-0 to Princethorpe, but then competed very well against the other teams, achieving a 0-0 draw with Wellingborough and going down narrowly to Wrekin College, Leicester Grammar and Nottingham. With no substitutes, the girls worked really hard for each other and improved as the day progressed.
Our younger players have also been in action - with some of them playing their first-ever fixtures. Against Stafford Grammar, the U12s emerged 2-1 winners, while the U13s were unlucky 3-2 losers, having failed to capitalise on numerous opportunities in the first half.
On a wet and cold evening, the U12s twice came from behind against King Edward's in a very competitive game before losing out 4-2, while the U13s played really well for a 1-1 draw at half-time before shipping 4 goals in the second half to lose 5-1.
The U9s (pictured above) built on an excellent 3-3 draw with Newcastle School the previous week to achieve a great 6-1 win over Old Vicarage. This team is growing in confidence with every match and shows great promise for the future.
