U11 Football v Ss Peter & Paul
On Tuesday afternoon, there was another football fixture for our U11 pupils, this time against a school just around the corner from LCS. Our junior pupils always enjoy multiple fixtures with Ss Peter and Paul School and the team were hoping to continue on from their success at the U11 football tournament the day before.
There were many pupils playing their first football game of the year, which was great to see, as so many of our Broadhurst pupils enjoy playing football outside of school. The game started quite evenly, with LCS having the better of the play. It took LCS a few minutes to get used to the long grass and the need to make a firm pass. As the first half went on, LCS grew into the game and they were rewarded with their first goal, when Theo T showed some lovely dribbling, getting round two defenders before placing the ball into the back of the net. 1-0 LCS at half time.
In the second half, LCS were playing uphill and maybe you’d expect them to find it hard going. In fact it was the complete opposite, as LCS kicked on from the goal just before half time and started brightly. Harry F came off the bench and made an immediate impact by scoring our second goal of the game. There was a complete switch around in personnel, with every player trying out different positions. This saw Nav S keep a clean sheet in goal during the first half, and also get on the score sheet in the second half making it 3-0 to LCS. Although Ss Peter and Paul were able to get a goal back, further goals from Frankie F, Romeo B (x2) and another from Harry F, saw LCS finish the game as 7-1 winners.
Just like the day before, our U11 footballers did the school extremely proud, playing the game in the right spirit and showing us all that there is a lot of football ability in Broadhurst.
