U12 ISA Football Tournament

On Friday 4 October, LCS travelled to Highclare for the annual Midland Independent Schools Association (ISA) U12 Football Tournament. The team were very excited on the journey there, talking formations, tactics and everything else in between!

The team arrived full of confidence, and the first game saw LCS match up against a strong Stafford Grammar team. The game started quite cautiously with both sides stringing together multiple passes. LCS took the lead through a very calm and collected finish by Jeremy S. LCS added another shortly after through Harry F, producing a lovely finish from inside the area, with LCS taking a 2-0 victory.

The second game saw LCS face off against Priory and the team started exactly the same way they finished the first game; with dominant possession, creating multiple chances. LCS took the lead through Daniel Z, who linked up well with Jeremy S and slotted the ball home neatly.  LCS added a second shortly afterwards, with a brilliant finish from Harry F.  Barney D added a third late in the game to finalise a convincing 3-0 victory.

The third group game saw LCS match up against Birchfield.  Once again, the team started the game with a flurry of chances, with Harry F and Jeremy S in the thick of the action.  LCS opened the scoring through Barney D, who added another shortly afterwards. Daniel Z rounded off the scoring to give LCS another convincing 3-0 win.

The final group game saw LCS vs St Dominic’s Grammar, and due to the depth of the squad, Mr Tams was able to make changes to the starting lineup. This did not affect LCS’ performance at all, and the team soon took a 1-0 lead. LCS added another through a brilliantly-worked goal by Barney D. The team then continued their rich vein of form by adding a third and fourth, to end the game 4-0.

This saw the team progress through to the knockout phase, where they matched up against a very strong Dixie Grammar School. The game started with both teams having a fair share of possession, but unfortunately Dixie took the lead to make the score 1-0. Dixie then added a quick second to make it 2-0 at the break. Dixie then added two more to make it 4-0 at the final whistle.  A tremendously valiant effort from the lads – one they should be extremely proud of. Well done to all involved.
