U14 Rugby - Staffordshire Cup
Last Thursday the U14 Rugby team travelled to Trentham Academy to play in the second round of the Staffordshire Cup, having received a bye in the first round. The boys had been training hard in their games lessons and at afterschool rugby club, so were excited for the fixture.
LCS started strongly while the game ebbed and flowed as the two teams worked each other out. LCS were the first to break the deadlock with a try from Benjamin, converted by Louis 0-7. LCS continued the with the attacking pressure and Benjamin was soon on the scoreboard for a second time, 0-12. Trentham rallied with a quick response and a well-worked try, 5-12. Some super lines of aggressive running from Harry and Jasper piled the pressure on Trentham, resulting in LCS entering half time 19-10 up following further scores from Benjamin and Louis.
In the second half, LCS continued its dominance with a further three tries (Benjamin x2 and Jasper). Great tackling (all game) from Benedict kept the ever-determined Trentham at bay. Trentham’s continued determination paid off as they scored in the final minutes. The final score was 15-36, with LCS progressing into the next round.
A super team performance, well done boys!
