U15 ISA Midlands Rugby 10s Tournament
On Wednesday, the U15 rugby team travelled to Worcester RFC to the annual ISA Midlands 10s Tournament.
After an early departure for the boys and a long journey, the team was excited to get involved in a day of rugby, on a glorious, sunny Worcester day.
First up for the boys was Twycross. A great start with a score by Ben converted by Devan gave LCS the lead. However, some unforced errors and complacency enabled Twycross to get back in to the game and win 7-12. A frustrating first game and one the boys knew they should have won.
Keen to move on in the next game and with some changes to the starting line-up, LCS took the game to Wellows. Tries from Louis (x2) and Ben, all converted by Devan, gave LCS a 21-7 win. A much better performance!
Next up Pitsford. Tries from Devan and Ben (again converted by Devan) saw LCS win again 14-7.
LCS were now in the swing of things and playing much better rugby - moving the ball about well and attacking the space. Bowbrook were next up for LCS who were beaten with some great LCS play, 47-0. Tries from Devan (x3), Ben, Adam, Louis & Oliver, conversions by Ben and Devan.
Stafford Grammar were next for LCS. LCS went 7-0 up with a try from Adam (converted by Devan). But then it sadly started to unfold for LCS. Tired legs led to poor defensive pressure from LCS and Stafford ran in 4 tries round the outside of LCS, despite some super last-ditch tackling from George, 7-28.
The final match for LCS was against Tettenhall College. Some very tired, but determined, bodies took to the field for LCS. Again, despite taking an early lead through a Louis try (converted by Devan), LCS could hold on and lost 7-21.
A great day of rugby all round. Some super play, mixed in with the odd blip and fatigue meant that LCS finished 4th overall. On another day perhaps 1st place was up for grabs?!
Well done all.
