U9 and U11 Cross Country

On Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 March, it was the turn of our U9 and U11 cross country teams to show us what they were made of.  First up was the U11 team, who travelled to Twycross ready to take on a tough course which involved plenty of hills and a huge farmer’s field to navigate. There were 6 or 7 other independent schools at the event and we really enjoy taking our younger runners to this competition each year.

The U11 girls’ team were first off and all of the runners ran superbly well.  It was great to see all of them complete the race and also show amazing determination throughout the course. The LCS team were led by Emilia who finished 2nd in the race, followed by Frankie (24th), Georgina (36th) and Tamara (38th).  The boys were then next to race.  Again, like the girls, the boys' all ran very well and I was delighted to see them all finish the race. Billy finished first for LCS in 8th position. He was followed quickly by Harry (11th), Romeo (12th), Daniel (14th) and Lenny (16th).

Next up on the Tuesday was the U9 team.  Again, I was excited to see how our younger pupils would cope with the tough course, but they tackled it admirably and showed just as much determination as the U11s had the previous day.  Like the U11s, the girls were first to race.  Poppy R was the first LCS girl to finish in a brilliant 5th place. Poppy trains at Sutton Coldfield AC and has had a strong cross-country season for her club. It was great to see all that training had paid off. Poppy was followed closely by Annabelle in 8th place and then Poppy T (23rd), Darcy (34th) and Poppy E (35th).  The boys were full of energy before their race and were feeling confident that they could replicate the girls' achievements.  Again, all the boys ran brilliantly and showed that both our U9 and U11 cross-country teams are super strong.  Daniel was first back for LCS in a fantastic 3rd place. He was followed very closely by our second runner who was Josh in 7th place and then Seb (34th), Dominic (36th) and Hadley in 40th place. Well done all of you.
