William takes on Ironman challenge

William (Year 13) has decided to challenge himself in rather an extreme manner - by taking on an Ironman challenge in Estonia as a way of maximising his fitness and raising valuable funds for the LimbPower charity.

Launched in November 2009, LimbPower engages amputees and individuals with limb impairments in physical activity, sport and the arts to improve quality of life and to aid lifelong rehabilitation. LimbPower support amputees, individuals with limb difference, and their families to bridge the gap between hospital rehabilitation and community and school engagement, and rebuilds lives by improving physical, social and mental well-being.

William is training hard to prepare for Ironman Tallinn, part of Estonia's triathlon festival in August.  It begins with a 3.8km swim course at Stroomi Beach in the sea.  This is followed by a 179.3km bike course with a mix of city and countryside cycling, and a total elevation gain of 564m.  Finally, William will undertake a 42.9km run course, one of the fastest in the world.

If you would like to support William's aim of raising £4,000, please click here for his gofundme page.

Good luck William - this is an impressive challenge to take on and we wish you all the best!
