Year 2 support MND Association
For our charity this term, we have been looking at the Motor Neurone Disease Association and, in particular, we have focused on the brave and very heroic Rob Burrow. We looked at his life as a professional rugby league player and also at how he brought the plight of those affected by motor neurone disease into the spotlight by his willingness to be followed throughout his illness.
The children made posters and have shown such empathy that we decided to do a sponsored swim to raise money for this very worthwhile cause. Considering this was just one year group raising money, we have been blown away by our families' response and at how much the class have raised. The children altogether have raised a staggering £677.
In true Rob Burrow spirit, they set off on their swim yesterday, many refusing to take a pause throughout the whole swim. They swam like fishes and many children swam 24 widths before the end of the session. I felt so proud of them all and just wanted to thank all our parents for their contributions and the children for really taking this charity into their hearts and wanting to make a difference. Children, you are remarkable and I know you will go on to achieve great things.
Well done Year 2!
