Year 7 residential to York
Our Year 7 pupils enjoy a 3-day trip to York at the beginning of the academic year - for some, this may be their first residential trip without their family. A packed schedule of educational visits and social activities ensure that new friendships are formed and memories made that will last a lifetime.
Day 1 (by Oakley) On Wednesday, we started with a three-hour coach drive, then an artistic visit to the Yorkshire Sculpture park where we ate lunch. Then we went to York Minster for a blast from the past. Then scrumptious delicious pizza. Then off to a creepy ghost walk around York for a bit of a scare. Then off to the dorms. Then for a lovely sleep that was beautiful!
Day 2 (by James) On the second day, we went on the coach to Scarborough Castle. The Castle had an interesting history as our tour guide Sarah told us. The front half of the Castle was destroyed by cannon balls when the Parliamentarians invaded. After a looking around the Castle, we went back on the coach to the Jorvik Viking Centre. At the Viking Centre they told us how they found remains there and that's where the origin of the Centre came from. Once they had told us about Vikings, they let us have a go on a ride which gave us even more information on Vikings. Finally, we went back on the coach to get fish and chips. It was delicious. After this we went back to the hostel and watched a film then went to bed.
Day 3 (by Leah): On Friday I had an amazing time! First, we went to the railway museum - it was very fascinating to see trains from the 1800s to current time. You could see how much it changes and develops over time. Then after that we went to York's Chocolate Factory. We got to taste and learn about how chocolate evolved and changed taste and texture over time. We even got to make our own chocolate lollypops!
