George
George (Year 9) has made huge progress in his judo over the last few months. George won the British Kata Championships for the second year in a row (a demonstration of judo techniques scored for precision) and also won the BJC National Kata Championship. When George represented LCS at the British Schools Championship, he achieved a brilliant bronze medal for the School with some spectacular ippon wins, putting him now amongst the best in the country for his age. At the BJC Open National Championship, George achieved Gold, winning every fight inside the distance by the maximum full ippon score.
In October, George was selected by the British Judo Council to take part in the Irish Open. The Dublin setting proved to be an excellent start to George's international competition experience, at a large event that attracted competitors from across Europe. We are delighted that George achieved a gold medal!
